Who knew that a frosted window and a bridal veil could get my heart racing? No, we weren't short on time thus having to run around. And no, I'm not THAT out of shape. I was literally out of breath from being so dang excited. (: Are you kidding? Look at her! She stepped out of Vogue and entered my camera. No one would ever guess that we're in a ladies locker room, in a basement, surrounded by lockers. I love this couple and I love my job. (:

I love before and afters...In design magazines they show what the room looked like before and then the stark and amazing contrast of what it looks like now. When you have a before and after you know to expect a transformation, a change of some kind. It's a concept that I work with pretty much every minute of my work day. From first meeting a couple I know that it is just the beginning of our relationship. It'll take a couple calls, lots of e-mails, and perhaps an engagement shoot, but by the end of it we'll no longer be strangers but friends. I think this weeks groom, Tim, may be my most successful before and after relationship I've had this year. First shy, and probably skeptical of who I was, we slowly thawed the ice and now we can joke around like we've known each other for years. And his now wife, Krystal is so darn sweet we hit it off right away.

I've really grown to love hearing from these two and it's kind of a sad moment to realize they're temporarily leaving my photo nest (that is until they hopefully one day have bambinos and I can get some cute baby shots).

Thanks for letting me be a part of your wedding process guys. (: It was wonderful.

So Worth It...

5 shirts and 5 degrees later I had frozen hands but awesome pictures. Hopefully, Ryan and Emily can say the same. (:

Sure, initially I'm a little hesitant to jump out in sub-zero temps holding a frosted camera but come the first picture I remember why I absolutely LOVE winter shoots; there's no glamour to it. We're dealing with frozen couples, watery eyes,  and snot kisses. There's not too much romantic about that, but that's what makes it great.

Think about some of the most special memories you have with your spouse or loved one. For me, it's when I'm wearing mismatched sweats with no make up on and my husband scoops me closer to him on the couch and says: "You look really cute today." Are you kidding!?

So sure, you may not have dreamt of having snot kisses during your engagement pictures but guess what? That's real, and that's beautiful. As is this couple Ryan & Emily. Regardless of the many freezing distractions Ryan is all about Emily. You can see it in the way he looks at her. And I think Emily would spend everyday in those conditions if it meant she got to be with him. They adore each other and I'd take frostbite to do it all over again. Oh wait...I get to. They get married in February!
